TECHNOLOGY COURSES
Introduction to Classroom Technologies – An introduction to various technologies used in classrooms with emphasis on microcomputer-based systems. Meets licensure requirements for preservice teachers. [Vanderbilt University]
Power to Teach - This course satisfies the Professional Standards Commission requirement for technology competency for all K-12 school staffs and emphasizes the creation of technology-integrated lessons. Teachers will learn to incorporate Microsoft PowerPoint, Publisher, email, and website development into lesson planning. Power To Teach also requires 10 hours of additional individual documented participation in an online threaded discussion group.
Video Production Course - Learn the ins and outs of creating a digital video. Students will plan a video through storyboarding, shoot their planned video with a digital camera, and edit the footage. Students will then output their video to VHS, CD, DVD, and the web. Guest speakers from the film and video industry will also visit the class.
Introduction to FrontPage - This class is taught in a face-to-face lab setting using ONLY the lab version of this program and the computers in that lab. This course is designed for participants who wish to learn about web design and how to use a web editor for creation of their own web page. Participants will learn the fundamentals of web design and web management techniques.
